FAQ

What’s GoCar Kids?

GoCar Kids matches you with the nearest available private-hire vehicles that are equipped with one child seat.

Must I book GoCar Kids if I have a child/adult between 1m to 1.35m?

Yes. In compliance with the Road Traffic Act, all passengers between 1m to 1.35m – regardless of age – must use an approved child seat when taking a private hire vehicle.

How much does a GoCar Kids trip cost?

A typical GoCar Kids or GoCar XL Kids trip costs $2 more than a usual GoCar and GoCar XL ride. Like GoCar, this fare is based on distance and dynamic pricing. Note that additional charges (e.g. ERP) may apply.

What other rides can I take if my child is below 1m?

Unfortunately, GoCar Kids is only for children between the height of 1m to 1.35m. We’re working on it – but you can book a GoTaxi ride in the meantime.

Help, I’m travelling with more than 1 child!

Most GoCar Kids rides are equipped with only one child seat and can only accommodate 1 child, 4– 7 years old, between 1m–1.35m tall. If you require more child seats or if you’re travelling with more than one child, please book a GoTaxi instead.

Can I use my own booster seat?

Yes, as long as your booster seat is LTA-approved.

Here’s a list of LTA-approved child restraints:

  • American Standard FMVSS 213 (RideSafer vest)
  • British Standards B.S. 3254: Part 2: 1988, B.S. AU 202a: 1988, or B.S. AU 185: 1983
  • Australian Standard AS 1754-1975
  • European Standard ECE R44
  • Japanese Standard JIS D0401-1990

Can I remove my child from the booster seat if they feel uncomfortable?

No. Please make sure your child is seated in the booster seat at all times – this is for their safety and to abide by LTA rules.

Are GoCar Kids rides covered with insurance?

As with other services, all drivers and passengers are protected with free accident coverage powered by Marsh and underwritten by AIG. For more information, click here.
