Singapore 101: places to be, things to do
30 Jun 2025

Welcome to Singapore! This little city packs a punch, which means you’ve got lots to see, do, and shop when you’re here. From the must-see attractions to the *ahem* real hidden gems, we’ll take you to the best places to be and experience.

Psst: Gojek gets you there easily, of course. Book a Gojek ride with any of the promo codes listed at the end of this blog to get going!

Holland Village

This charming neighborhood of cafés and food establishments has got you covered all day. Start with local fare for breakfast from Holland Village Market & Food Centre, where you can get quintessential Singaporean dishes like laksa, economical bee hoon, and chicken rice. If you’re visiting for lunch or dinner, we’d recommend going with a hearty bowl of Sanpoutei Ramen, or brunch fare from Lola’s Cafe. If it’s a cheeky tipple you’re looking for, our favorite watering hole is Cha Cha Cha – which also serves pretty solid tacos.

Blue Bottle Coffee

Where: Raffles City

The cult-favorite Blue Bottle Coffee finally has a store in Singapore – so you don’t have to travel far to get your caffeine fix. Best part? It’s right by the Civic District, so you can fuel back up again after visiting all the museums and galleries nearby. The café also serves pastries from artisanal bakery Bakery Brera,

queic by Olivia

Where: 41 Kreta Ayer Road / Scotts Square / Jewel Changi Airport

It’s pronounced “cake” – like the delightful melt-in-your-mouth cheesecakes queic serves, made with a unique mix of cream and blue cheese on cookie-like sablé crust. Don’t let the blue cheese intimidate you – it does wonders to balance out the creaminess and sweetness with a little bit of savory.

Far East Plaza

Where: 14 Scotts Road

A stone’s throw from queic at Scotts Square, this mall may look old and quiet, but it’s got lots to offer. Besides budget-friendly nail salons, Far East Plaza also is home to New Station Snack Bar, with salted egg pork ribs rice that easily puts others to shame. The same zi char (Singapore/Malaysian home-style cooking) eatery also offers crisp stir-fried vegetables, soups, and other meats, making it the perfect place for a good, balanced dinner after a long day of shopping at Orchard.

Queensway Shopping Centre

Where: 1 Queensway

This older mall in Alexandra has always been a go-to spot for sports apparel, but lately it’s also grown into a hidden enclave of thrift shops and concept stores for the fashion-savvy and budget babes. Pick up a pair of sneakers from your favorite sports brand, or second-hand trendy fits from honsieponsie and Bhabie’s Market.

VivoCity

Where: 1 Harbourfront Walk

If you’ve got Sentosa on your itinerary, chances are, you’ll be making a stop at VivoCity. This mega mall will have everything you’ll ever need, including wallet-friendly essentials from Daiso, designer toys from ActionCity, and a supermarket for your picnic needs as you hang out by the beaches in Sentosa.

Mustafa Centre

Where: 145 Syed Alwi Road

When we say Mustafa Centre has everything, we mean e v e r y t h i n g. Fresh produce and fish. Gold. Toys. Toiletries. Cameras. Singapore souvenirs. UK souvenirs, even (we don’t know why). The best part? It’s open 24 hours, so if you’ve got last-minute shopping to do before your flight departs – or if the bustling city noises are making it hard to fall asleep –  this is the place to be.

Jewel Changi Airport

Where: 78 Airport Boulevard

The iconic landmark that greets you as you enter Singapore is also a fantastic mall – complete with unique Singapore souvenirs, Southeast Asian-inspired desserts from Birds of Paradise Gelato Boutique, as well as the first Pokémon Centre outside of Japan. Don’t forget to take pictures at the Jewel Rain Vortex – the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, right here in Singapore.

Chinatown Heritage Centre

Where: 48 Pagoda Street

This three-level preserved shophouse right in the heart of Chinatown recreates the living conditions of Chinese migrants in the 1950s, through their early years settling into the city. See, touch, feel, and hear their journeys as you go through the life-sized reproduction of a tailor shop, their rooms, and communal kitchens.

Haw Par Villa

Where: 262 Pasir Panjang Road

Built in 1937 by Aw Boon Haw of the Tiger Balm brothers, this park contains over 1,000 dioramas and statues depicting traditional folklore and history from Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian religions. It’s also home to the famous Ten Courts of Hell – which shows the different punishments you’ll get in the afterlife based on the sins you commit here on Earth. Equally gruesome, fascinating, and kitschy – there’s truly nothing quite like Haw Par Villa, anywhere else in the world.

Universal Studios Singapore

Where: 8 Sentosa Gateway

The only Universal Studios in all of Southeast Asia, this theme park plays host to 7 immersive zones for you and the whole family. Say hi to Gru and the Minion ‘cru, walk amongst the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, and spend your time living it large as royals in Shrek’s Far Far Away.

Gardens by the Bay

Where: 18 Marina Gardens

In the heart of Singapore lies 105 hectares of manicured greeneries, where flowers never stop blooming, regardless of the season. Live out your Avatar dreams as you climb up the Supertrees in all of their sci-fi wonder, and make sure to check in often at the Flower Dome, which changes its floral display often throughout the year.
