Singapore’s best ice cream: beat the heat with these sweet scoops
23 Feb 2024

Beat Singapore’s year-long heat (and ever-growing list of climate-change concerns) with these to-go places for ice cream, gelato, and the likes. Hint: take a Gojek there for a fully-sheltered journey, away from the sun.

Birds of Paradise

Where: Jewel / 63 East Coast Road

A familiar sight in the world of Instashots, Birds of Paradise’s many, delicate floral flavors taste even better than they look. Pandan is especially soft and wonderful, and the chrysanthemum one tastes exactly like the Yeo’s drink. No matter your choice, eat it with their signature thyme cone.

The Humble Scoop

Where: Katong Shopping Centre / Stars of Kovan

Local flavors in hip ice cream parlors aren’t exactly new, but The Humble Scoop has some of the best ones we’ve tried yet. Try the "Orh Haw!" – which is the thing you’d say when your friends are about to get into trouble, but also the name of the ice cream inspired by hawthorn flakes. Cute.

Lickers

Where: 124 Hougang Avenue 1 / 6 Telok Blangah Crescent

Bring your night-time chats to Lickers, and your besties will thank you for the good time. Open till 2AM daily from Tuesday–Sunday, Lickers’ best items are also the least expected, so make sure to order a plate of tater tots to dip into your ‘scream.

Burnt Cones

Where: 105 Clementi Street 12

West siders, here’s an option for unique cones! Like its namesake, this shop serves gelato in burnt cones of different levels: regular, slightly burnt, and burnt. The point is to balance out all the sweet and smooth from the ice cream with some fragrant, well-needed crunch.

Chateraise

Where: Multiple locations

We’re not going to elaborate much, but this TikTok from Boblet explains all you need to know about a) how to pronounce the brand’s name and b) exactly what to buy the next time you’re there.
