Top driving tips: how to become a better driver for better trips!
A safe and secure ride-hailing environment has the trust of customers, which will help attract more demand – that means more trips and earnings for you. Here’s how to best help Gojek be a great platform:

Ensure that your car is in the best condition (no matter its age) by checking the following regularly:

- From January 2021, all private-hire vehicles must undergo annual inspections.
- Check your vehicle’s inspection due date on One Motoring and set a personal reminder so that you don’t miss it!

- Make sure that your tinted films are not reflective
- Your tinted films must allow at least 70% of light to pass through at the front windscreen and two front side windows
- Your tinted films must allow at least 25% of light to pass through the rear windscreen and two rear side windows
- The front windscreen must not affect the transmission of signals between IU and the ERP gantry.

- Check that the head, tail, signal, and number plate lights are working well.
- Unusually fast clicking sounds indicate that your signal lights may be broken.
- Do not modify your lights – this may affect other road users!

- The chassis is an integral part of your vehicle that cannot be modified.
- Make sure that your chassis number is readable and accessible (e.g. no obstructing material or modifications).
- Check with your vehicle workshop if you’re unsure!

Keeping up to date with all the important information helps give you peace of mind. Here’s what you need to know:

- Your car needs to meet all the basic legal requirements of the PDVL.
- Your certificate of insurance must be for the Z10/Z11 scheme with a valid expiry date.
- Your road tax must still be valid.
- Your PHV decal must show that your vehicle is under the Private Hire Scheme.

- Know when your PDVL/TDVL expires so that you can renew it in time!
- Driving while your licence is expired is an offence.

- Your account belongs to you – you are responsible for anything that happens under your account.
- If you’re sharing your phone, remember to log out before passing the phone on.
- Keep your login details to yourself!

- Your customers see important details on their app (e.g. vehicle plate, name).
- If there are any differences between what is seen on the app and in real life, customers might feel unsafe and cancel the trip.
- Remember to update your in-app personal details even if you’re driving a replacement car for just a day!

Striking up a conversation? Keeping your customers comfortable? Here’s how to get that 5-star rating (and more tips here)!

- Try not to talk about anything that may induce strong emotions, like politics, religion, race, etc.
- Treat everyone with respect!
- If you get caught in a bad experience, avoid using harsh words or vulgarities – how you react makes or breaks a great ride!
- Complete the trip and reach out to Gojek afterwards instead.

- Add in the small touches! Help out with their bags, stock up on tissue paper, or even by making sure to drop them off at a shelter during bad weather.

- Make sure the vehicle is ready for boarding.
- Keep your boot empty for customers to put their bags.
- Prepare basic cleaning equipment (e.g. plastic bags, newspapers, wet wipes) – accidents do happen!

A happy driver-partner makes for happy rides. Here’s how to keep yourself in tip-top shape for driving:

- Accidents are more likely to happen without enough rest.
- Have at least 7–9 hours of uninterrupted sleep before going online!
- Take a break when you’re tired.

- Keep your hands free!
- That means no eating, drinking, texting, or smoking when you’re driving.

- Make sure to stay safe for everyone on the road, including yourself.
- Do not speed or beat the red light. Time is important, but so is safety!
- Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front. This is necessary in case you’ll need to stop in time.
