Enhancing reliability and service quality for a better Gojek
01 Mar 2020

Updated 6 Dec 2023

As part of Gojek’s long-term commitment to create a better ride-hailing experience, we will be introducing new initiatives and product enhancements over the next few months.

What does this mean?

Look forward to more perks aimed at lowering your everyday operational costs, such as higher fuel savings and expanded income protection.

These enhancements will be supported by the implementation of a tiered platform platform fee from 3 Jul 2023. Platform fees will now range from $0.10 less to $0.30 more on the base of $0.70 per trip. The amount collected – paid for by customers - will go directly towards initiatives to improve our ride-hailing services for everyone.

Other features and initiatives that will be unveiled over the next few months include multi-destination rides and a service quality program to encourage safer and more pleasant rides for customers.

Thank you for your continuous support to create a better Gojek together!

Please refer to the FAQs below for more information.

FAQs

Q: How is the platform fee calculated?

A: The platform fee can range from $0.10 less to $0.30 more on the base of $0.70 onto every trip. Customers will pay this fee on top of their fares and ERP charges (when applicable).

This is based on factors including distance travelled and duration, and reflects the range of trips people take on our platform, helping to ensure prices remain fair and competitive for both customers and driver-partners.

Example:

If your customer’s fare is $10, the platform fee adds on $0.70, so the total fare is $10 + $0.70 = $10.70.

The 10% service fee will be based on the fare before the addition of the $0.70 platform fee, so your take home amount will be $10 x 90% = $9 (after the 10% service fee deduction).

Q: How will the platform fee be applied? Do I need to key it in manually after the trip is completed?

A: No, there is no further action required as the $0.70 will automatically be applied upon booking.

Q: What happens in the event of a cash trip?

A: For cash trips, the amount you are required to collect from the customer is inclusive of the platform fee. After you have collected the, this amount will then be deducted from your Earnings Wallet. The platform fee will not be reflected in the breakdown.

Example:

If the Driver app prompts you to Request Cash: $20.00, the breakdown is as follows:

  • Actual fare: $19.30
  • Service fee: $1.93 (10% service fee x $19.30)
  • Platform fee: $0.70
  • Wallet deduction: $2.63 ($1.93 + $0.70)

Q: What would the platform fee be used for? Who will it go to?

A: The amount collected from the platform fees, paid for by customers, will go directly towards initiatives to improve our ride-hailing services for everyone, such as lowering your everyday costs for maximized savings.
