goplay / 24 Feb 2024

Missing the film festivals’ vibe? Well, good news for you because the Jakarta Independent Film Festival 2nd edition is back! It’s time for you to jump in, join the festival crowd, and show your love for the film industry and independent filmmakers. From 21 to 24 October 2021, you can enjoy the best stories with diverse themes and genres created by the best international filmmakers.

On its 2nd edition, JIFF will bring more than the 30 independent films selected to your home via GoPlay. These films come from various countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, United States, France, Switzerland, Argentina, Japan, Norway, and many other countries. The category itself is no less diverse, from feature films, shorts, documentaries, animation, and more.

These films will compete for 11 award categories in their respective categories. One of the films that will be shown is Rocketship by Mathias Choo which has been screened at Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF)

In addition, there is also a Sticker by Georgi M. Unovski which has previously been screened at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and This is Not a Love Story by Sidi Saleh. At the end of the event, the winners from each category selected by the judges will be announced.

Not only that, here you can also interact directly with filmmakers and other film enthusiasts! There is a Q&A session on 22-23 October 2021 at 19.00 WIB where you can ask questions directly to the filmmakers of Heartbeat, This is Not a Love Story, Help is On the Way, and many other movies. It’s a real opportunity for those of you who are curious about where the inspirations come from, what it is like to sit behind a camera and create a film. If you enjoy talking about movies with your friends, you can also chat with other audiences in the discussion sessions.

Even better, you can enjoy all of that, from screenings to interactive sessions, for free on GoPlay! So film lovers, get ready and make sure you don’t miss it. Let’s watch interesting stories and show your support to these independent filmmakers!
