What is a PDVL?

The Private Hire Car Driver’s Vocational Licence (PDVL) is a requirement by the Land Transport Authority for operating a private-hire car. For more on the PDVL, click here.

What do I need to qualify for a PDVL?

To be eligible for a PDVL, you should:
  • Have a 3/3A/3C/3CA Singapore driving licence for at least a continuous period of 2 years
  • Be able to speak and read simple English
  • Be a Singaporean. Otherwise, a Permanent Resident/Foreign Work Pass holder employed by a company/business with chauffeuring services

How much does a PDVL cost?

PDVL-application fees consist of three parts:
  • Application fee: $40
  • Medical check-up fee (in partnership with SATAComm): $39
  • Course fee: $155.15 ($128.40 deductible with SkillsFuture credits)

How long does it take to complete my PDVL application?

Your application may take anything between 2–4 weeks to process, medical check-up 1–2 weeks, and another week to complete both the PDVL course and test.

In total, the process takes anything between 4–7 weeks.

Where do I book a PDVL course?

Upon being certified medically fit, you can sign up for your PDVL course here. Alternatively, contact your relationship manager and we’ll help you out!

How long does my PDVL last for?

Your licence is valid for 3 years.

Where can I get my medical check-up done?

You can have your medical exam done in any registered clinic. Please note that you’ll have to use the LTA’s medical examination form and also get a chest x-ray done.

I have a TDVL. Do I still need the PDVL?

Good news! If you already have the TDVL, you will not need to apply for a PDVL.

Can I retake the test if I fail it the first time round?

Yes! Each retake costs $10.70 for the test fee, and $5.35 for each test paper.
